Thanks to bae, my 22nd birthday was off-le-chain.
I mean seriously, talk about an epic surprise. Punta Cana is located in the Dominican Republic, home of some of the most gorgeous beaches.
There are several ways to vacation here, but we specifically chose to relax on an all-inclusive resort. Punta Cana offers a variety of activities, food, culture, and drinks. Here’re some highlights:
Parasailing: Dope. It’s like sitting on a couch floating over the ocean. You could see the entire resort while the wind lightly blew your hair. I was too scared I would drop my camera or my phone in the water, but I can definitely say it was the most peaceful adventure I’ve ever done. Definitely, something you want to look into.
Dune Buggy’s: This was a great way to get off of the resort and actually see the area. We had some tour guides that took us on and off road. There were a lot of flying rocks and dirt, and a monkey at one of the beach stops (see photo above of him sitting uninvited on my head). Lowkey, I was afraid he would claw my hair off, but he was nice.
Cave Swimming: Punta Cana has this gorgeous cave with fresh water that is refreshed by a small waterfall. Embracing all of the serendipities, we, of course, had to take a swim. The water was FREEZING. But boy, it was beautiful.
Mamajuana: Of course I have to mention what we drank while we were there. All inclusive usually includes liquor, but what we fell in love with (and took home like tourists) was the mamajuana. This mixture of bark, rum, honey, and herbs is joked to be known as the “baby maker,” but I just found that it was a smooth shot of sweet and barky. A must have when you visit!
These were all amazing things I had personally never done before, so it was icing on the cake for a perfect birthday. I would definitely recommend your next getaway to be in Punta Cana. You can’t go wrong learning some more Spanish, beach beds, and relaxation!
